High Street South, London

Project Type: Affordable Housing

This project involved the redevelopment of a former garage and London Borough of Newham building on a prominant corner site to provide 8 residential units of affordable rented housing.

Following an archaelogical dig and recording, construction commenced on the 2 blocks with the building’s footprint stepping down along Nelson Street to reconcile the scale of the
Victorian terraces. The mass of the 2 blocks are broken up with brick detailing, projecting bays and canterlevered corner balconies.

The flat roof was utilised for PV panels with MVHR units provided in each unit. The scheme achieved Secured By Design Gold standard.
